Well, what can one say about Collette Labey’s latest fundraising event, culminating with her Dine4Diabetes Ball held on 25th November?
Whilst the charity awaits receipt of a number of invoices for settlement, she raised in the region of £25,000.
All Raffle Tickets were sold in advance of the Ball, The Silent Auction raised £8,500 and the Lucky Hat £1,000.
During his short speech at the Ball, the Chairman of Diabetes Jersey, Bill O’Brien advised those in attendance that, in recognition of Collette’s fundraising activities spanning 11 years, the Diabetes Paediatric Waiting Room at the Enid Quenault Health and Wellbeing Centre would be named after her with the charity funding the provision of its furnishings.
Collette has been overwhelmed with this news and has not only thanked the charity, but is also indebted to all of her helpers who made the evening the true success that it was.
In particular, she has mentioned Helen Bliss and Sue Coutanche (of Sheer Bliss), Neil Renouf and their ‘A’ Team who decorated the room to provide the Mad Hatters’ Tea Party theme.
Collette has already decided to hold a similar event in November 2025 to raise further funds for Diabetes Jersey, and is already planning the theme for it.
Diabetes Jersey is grateful to Collette for raising so much money for it in recent years.
