CoronaVirus COVID-19

Dr Lawrenson’s advice is to follow the sick day rules. Children with diabetes are as much at risk of catching the Corona Virus as the  seasonal flu, therefore less risk for children. Corona Virus is more dangerous to adults and the elderly.

However, if your child becomes unwell with Corona virus symptoms:

  1. Check Blood glucose regularly
  2. Check ketones when required
  3. Might need more insulin (correction doses)
  4. Plenty of fluids
  5. Self- isolate
  6. Call diabetes centre for advice

The advice is not to come to hospital…call the Diabetes Centre first.
